What it does

The workflow, automated.

Smart stem grouping

StemStack reads your Logic track names and suggests stem groups automatically. Drag-and-drop to adjust. You'll never miss a track or accidentally include an element in two bounces.

Automatic file naming

Files are named from your project name and stem group names, using the convention you set. No renaming, no folder chaos — every stem lands in exactly the right place.

Fully automated bounce

StemStack handles every click — soloing each group, triggering the bounce dialog, confirming file names, and moving to the next stem. Walk away and come back to finished files.

FAQ

Common questions

What is StemStack?+

StemStack automates the stem bounce workflow in Logic Pro. Set up your stem groups once (Drums, Bass, Guitars, Vocals, etc.), click one button, and StemStack solos each group, triggers Logic's bounce dialog, names the file, and moves to the next stem — hands-free.

What do I need to run it?+

Logic Pro on macOS. StemStack works alongside Logic, not inside it — you'll have both open at the same time.

What macOS and Logic Pro versions are supported?+

macOS 14 (Sonoma) through macOS 15 (Sequoia), and Logic Pro 11 or later.

Why does StemStack need Accessibility permissions?+

StemStack uses macOS's Accessibility API to control Logic Pro on your behalf — soloing tracks, triggering the bounce dialog, and confirming file names. This is the same category of permission screen recorders and automation tools use. StemStack doesn't function without it, and it doesn't access anything outside of controlling Logic's interface.

How do I install StemStack correctly?+
  1. Open the DMG and drag StemStack into your Applications folder. This step matters — StemStack must be located in Applications in order for macOS to correctly prompt you for Accessibility permissions. If it's run from anywhere else (like directly from the DMG or Downloads), the permission prompt may not appear properly.
  2. Open StemStack from Applications. When prompted, grant Accessibility permission in System Settings → Privacy & Security → Accessibility. This is required for StemStack to control Logic Pro.
Some of my bounces are failing / StemStack seems to skip a stem — what's going on?+

This usually comes down to your Logic project's layout relative to your screen size — StemStack occasionally has trouble locating the right controls if the track inspector is collapsed or the window layout is unusually compact. Try expanding the inspector panel and running the bounce again — this resolves it in the large majority of cases. If it still doesn't work, email us with your screen resolution and Logic window layout and we'll help troubleshoot.

Does StemStack modify my Logic project or audio files?+

No — StemStack only interacts with Logic's interface to trigger actions you'd otherwise do manually (soloing, bouncing). It doesn't touch your project file or audio data directly.

Can I customize how files are named?+

Yes — file names are generated from your project name and stem group names, based on a naming convention you set.

Does it work with any track/session setup, or do I need to organize things a certain way first?+

StemStack works no matter how your session is set up — but a couple of habits make it faster:

  • Use standard track names (e.g. "EL GTR," "Drums," "EL Bass") — this helps StemStack auto-suggest stem group names for you instead of you naming them manually.
  • Group instrument sections into track stacks when you can (e.g. Kick, Snare, Hat, and a percussion loop grouped into a track stack called "Drums," then collapsed). That way you only have one track to drag into a stem group, and StemStack will pick up that grouping automatically.

Neither is required — you can always build your stem groups manually regardless of how your session is organized.

How does pricing work?+

StemStack is a one-time purchase — no subscription. Each license activates on one Mac.

What's your refund policy?+

Not working for your setup? Email support@stemstackapp.com within 30 days for a full refund. Just include your macOS and Logic Pro versions and a video of what's failing so we can make the product better.

How do I activate my license on a new Mac?+

You'll receive your activation license key by email when you purchase the app. The first time you open StemStack, you'll be prompted to enter this license key to activate it on your computer.

I found a bug / something isn't working — what do I do?+

Email support@stemstackapp.com with what happened and your macOS/Logic Pro version. StemStack is under active development and real bugs get fixed fast. You're also always covered by the 30-day refund if it's not working for you in the meantime.
